Frequently asked questions
What metadata gets removed? ›
Title, author, subject, keywords, creator, and producer fields are all cleared.
Will the page content change? ›
No, only the document properties are affected — every page stays exactly as it was.
Is the PDF uploaded to check for metadata? ›
No, detection and removal both happen locally in your browser.
Troubleshooting
Why does the creation date change instead of disappearing? ›
The underlying PDF library can overwrite the creation and modification dates but can’t fully remove the fields, so they’re reset to the processing time rather than left blank — the original date is no longer present.
Why can’t I clean an encrypted PDF? ›
Encrypted PDFs can’t be read locally without the password, so metadata can’t be inspected or removed. Remove the password protection first.
